Volunteering
Training a new Community Pastor or refreshing the training of an experienced volunteer is a priority for us. We have developed a compact but comprehensive programme of core modules designed to cover physical, emotional and spiritual issues with diverse topics including first aid, drugs awareness, mental health issues, listening skills or spiritual counselling. We recommend that trainees complete the programme of nine modules during a 12-month period before being commissioned.
If you go up to a Community Pastor on patrol and ask them; “Which church are you from?”, the likely response will be “All of them.” Volunteers come from local churches of all different denominations and walks of life. They can be anyone who:

• has been committed to a church fellowship for more than one year
• has a personal reference from their minister or church leader
• has attended and completed the training programme
• is over the age of 18
• has been checked by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)
