Billericay Community Pastors operate out of a wider initiative called The Love Billericay Centre (TLBC), which was officially opened on Saturday 16 May by the Rt. Hon. Richard Holden, MP for Basildon and Billericay. The opening marked the end of a delay of more than two years following the fire in Chantry House on 4th April 2024, which devastated charities and businesses.
TLBC provides a safe place for those out on the town, and serves as a base for our patrols in the ‘night-time economy’. The public are always welcome, whether they are looking for help or a listening ear, need to pick up their mineral water or flip-flops, or just wander in for a friendly chat.

Another vital function of the Hub will be to serve as a day centre. As well as offering relief from the hustle and bustle of the High Street, it will provide a 'warm space' where the lonely and elderly in particular can meet others or find a welcome volunteer to chat with. It's not a café, but we can offer you a free cup of tea or coffee. TLBC will provide a safe place for ‘latchkey’ kids (whose parents both work), where they will be able to take advantage of free WiFi, maybe do their homework, or just chill out with mates.
Community Pastors share the space, at the northern end of Billericay High Street, with Revival Church Billericay and Baby Basics Billericay. Revival Church is a modern, relevant Christian faith centre with an emphasis on care for the community. Its slogan “Blessing Our Town” sums it up neatly. The Centre is also home to Baby Basics, a charity that takes referrals from a range of medical and social care professionals, working with vulnerable women and families, to provide essential post-natal supplies.
The three partners together provide practical, social and spiritual support for the local community. Although we operate in different areas, our projects share a vision to be a positive Christian presence on the High Street, focussed on being ‘Jesus on the streets’ for the local community.

The Love Billericay Centre is a cross-denominational project where Christians of all traditions can come together to serve our community, an ethos embraced by all three TLBC partners.

It's all part of the church engaging with the local community.

Saffron Walden Community Pastors are able to use the town’s superb Saffron Community Link where ‘customers’ can pop in for a chat over free tea, coffee, hot chocolate, biscuit and, of course, those famous Community Pastor lollies. Saffron Walden co-ordinator Dave Law said; “If you need to offload and talk to a listening, non-judgemental ear or want to know more about Community Pastors, please come and say hello.”

This excellent facility located at the heart of Saffron Walden town centre, has only been made available to us because of the excellent working relationship with the local council, developed over many years.
The domestic abuse charity J9 has also designated the Link as an official J9 Safe Space, where people experiencing domestic abuse can safely and discreetly get information and use a phone to contact a support service.

The Link also provides a superb facility for Community Pastors training sessions, where our Saffron Walden team can learn or refresh the skills required to serve you where it matters.
